GM Blazer/Jimmy/Typhoon/Bravada 1983-1993 Repair Guide

The rear suspension system consists of 3 major components: the double acting shock absorbers, variable rate multi-leaf springs and the solid rear axle assembly. The multi-leaf springs are connected to the frame by a hanger assembly with integral bushings in the front and a shackle assembly with integral bushings in the rear. In response to different road and payload conditions, the shackle assembly allows the leaf spring to "change its length". The rear axle is connected to both the leaf springs and the shock absorbers by various attaching parts.
