Most of the later model control modules used in these vehicles contain a "learning" ability that allows the module to make corrections for minor variations in the fuel system and thereby improve driveability. Any time the module is replaced or power is removed from the module (to erase codes or for safety during a repair), the "learning" process is reset and must begin again.
When the process is reset, a change may be noted in the vehicle's performance. To "teach" the vehicle, start and run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Operate the vehicle using moderate acceleration and idle conditions until normal performance returns.
