REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the trim panel and water deflector.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the lock rods.
  6.  
  7. Cut out and remove the lock rod clips. They should be replaced with new ones, since they usually break during removal.
  8.  
  9. If equipped with power locks, detach the electric lock wiring connector.
  10.  
  11. Unfasten the retaining screws.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lock mechanism.
  14.

To install:
  1. Install the lock mechanism.
  2.  

A new service lock mechanism will have a block-out plug installed. Don't operate the lock or remove the plug until the lock mechanism is installed and the rod is connected to the lock.

  1. Install the retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Install the new lock clips to the rods and install the lock rods.
  6.  
  7. Remove the block-out plug.
  8.  
  9. Install the trim panel and water deflector.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.
