To install:

All locks must be installed in the latched position for proper lock synchronization. Replacement locks will have a synchronization wire installed and be in the latched position when received. This must be removed after installation for proper lock operation.

  1. Install the right upper lock.
  2.
  3. Install the glass blockout rod and the inside lock rod. Do not connect the upper to lower locking rod at this time.
  4.
  5. Install the outside handle and reconnect the electrical connectors.
  6.
  7. Disengage the left upper remote synchronization locking rod attaching swivel from the clip at the remote control assembly.
  8.
  9. Manually latch the right lower lock assembly.
  10.

CAUTION
With the tailgate open in the door position and the right upper and lower locks engaged, the tailgate is in a vulnerable position and could drop from the left upper lock if the synchronization locking rod is pulled inboard. Do not pull on the left upper lock rod when making the swivel adjustment, as personal injury or damage to the tailgate could result.

  1. Adjust the swivel on the left upper remote synchronization lock rod until it aligns with the hole in the remote control assembly. Insert the swivel end through the hole on the remote control assembly and engage the retaining clip.
  2.
  3. Adjust the swivel on the right upper remote lock rod until it aligns with the hole in the remote control assembly. Insert the swivel end in the hole in the remote control assembly and engage the retaining clip.
  4.
  5. Remove the synchronization wire from the right upper lock and unlatch the locks by actuating the tailgate outside handle. Perform synchronization checks.
  6.
  7. Reinstall the inner trim panels and handle.
