REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Except Eldorado and Seville

1967-71

The engine is removed together with the transmission.

  1. Place the car on jackstands and drain the cooling system, crankcase, and transmission.
  2.

CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Disconnect the battery cables.
  2.
  3. Take a scribe and carefully mark the position of the hood hinges where they mount to the fender apron, and remove the hood complete with its hinge mechanism.
  4.
