REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1967-81 Except Eldorado and Seville

See Figure 1

  1. Lower the antenna.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector and the antenna lead cable from the support tube.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two screws which secure the upper antenna mounting bracket to the fender.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolt and washers securing the antenna to the right fender antenna mounting bracket and grommet, then remove the antenna and splash shield from the car.
  10.  
  11. The escutcheon may be removed by depressing the lock tabs and pushing the escutcheon out through the top of the fender.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Turn the wheels all the way to the right.
  2.  
  3. Raise the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna wiring harness and lead connectors.
  6.  
  7. Remove the antenna harness retaining strap.
  8.  
  9. Remove the escutcheon and two upper fender to antenna bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the lower half of the wheel housing.
  12.  
  13. Remove the one bolt retaining the antenna assembly to to the inner fender.
  14.  
  15. Remove the two bolts holding the lower fender support and remove the support.
  16.  
  17. Remove the one bolt holding the antenna brackets together.
  18.  
  19. Attach a guide wire (must be at least four feet) to the top of the existing antenna.
  20.  
  21. Remove the antenna.
  22.  
  23. Installation is the reverse of removal. Secure the wiring with a new retaining strap.

1967-78 Eldorado
  1. Lower the antenna.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector and the antenna lead cable from the support tube.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two screws which secure the upper antenna mounting bracket to the fender.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolt and washers securing the antenna to the right fender antenna mounting bracket and grommet, then remove the antenna and splash shield from the car.
  10.  
  11. The escutcheon may be removed by depressing the lock tabs and pushing the escutcheon out through the top of the fender.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1976-79 Seville

See Figure 3

  1. Raise the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three retainers which secure the access plate to the left hand wheelhouse.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna lead and electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the antenna escutcheon from the top of the fender.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the screw securing the antenna to the wheelhouse mounting bracket.
  10.  
  11. Slide the antenna and grommet from the mounting bracket and remove through the wheelhouse access port.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the two drain holes in the bottom of the antenna housing and the two drain holes in the base of the mast are open.

1979-82 Eldorado and 1980-82 Seville

  1. Raise the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Support the front of the hood to the radiator support bracket and remove the right hand hood hinge.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna lead and electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the one screw from inside the right door, securing the the antenna to the fender.
  8.  
  9. Hold the antenna in position and remove the escutcheon securing the antenna support tube to the fender.
  10.  
  11. Remove the antenna through the hood hinge opening.
  12.  
  13. Remove the mounting bracket.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1983-85 Eldorado and Seville

See Figure 5

  1. Raise the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the antenna lead and electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the escutcheon from the fender and the two upper attaching bolts.
  6.  
  7. Support the hood and remove the right hand hood support. Circle the washer bolt area with a grease pencil for proper hood alignment upon reassembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the one screw from the inner fender.
  10.  
  11. Remove the antenna through the inner fender hole.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

See Figure 6

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right hand sound insulating panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna lead from the radio.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the antenna motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear portion of the wheel opening shield and push aside.
  10.  
  11. Remove the one screw from the top of the antenna tube.
  12.  
  13. Remove the two screws from the lower mounting bracket.
  14.  
  15. Remove the grommet from the body.
  16.  
  17. Remove the antenna assembly with the lead and wire harness.
  18.  
  19. Installation is the reverse of removal.
