REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Deville and Fleetwood
  1. Support the hood and remove the 2 bolts and gas spring.
  2.  


CAUTION
When supporting the hood, place braces evenly to reduce hood travel, and tape or cushion the hood and fender corners. This will minimize the chance of personal injury and help protect the vehicle sheet metal.

  1. Remove the cornering lamp and bezel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screws and the wheel opening moulding.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheelwell filler panel as follows:
    1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
    2.  
    3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
    4.  
    5. Remove the necessary screws, bolts and retainers and remove the filler panel.
    6.  

  6.  
  7. Remove the fender moulding.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 screws and the support bracket.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolt and nut.
  12.  
  13. Remove the sound filler insulator.
  14.  
  15. Remove the 2 screws and the front bracket.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the forward lamp monitor.
  18.  
  19. Remove the fender assembly bolts and the fender.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the fender assembly. Be careful when positioning the fascia and headlamp mounting.
  2.  
  3. Connect the forward lamp monitor.
  4.  
  5. Install the 2 screws and bracket.
  6.  
  7. Install the sound filler insulator.
  8.  
  9. Install the nut and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the bolt and tighten to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the support bracket and the 2 screws.
  14.  
  15. Install the fender moulding.
  16.  
  17. Install the wheelwell filler panel as follows:
    1. Position the filler panel and install the retainers, bolts and screws.
    2.  
    3. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
    4.  
    5. Lower the vehicle.
    6.  

  18.  
  19. Install the wheel opening moulding and secure with the screws.
  20.  
  21. Install the cornering lamp and bezel.
  22.  
  23. Install the hood bolts and shims.
  24.  
  25. Adjust the sheet metal to the proper tolerances, as shown in the appropriate illustration.
  26.  

Eldorado and Seville
1990-91 MODELS
  1. Remove the sill plate insert.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 4 sill plate screws and the sill plate.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 14 front wheelwell panel extension screws and one bolt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wheelwell inner filler panel.

  1. Remove the wheel opening moulding screws and the wheel opening moulding.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 2 screws from above the cornering lamp.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rocker panel moulding.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 lower screws from the fender.
  8.  
  9. Support the hood and remove the 4 hood hinge-to-body screws.
  10.  


CAUTION

  1. Remove the hood hinge stop bumper.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 4 upper fender-to-body screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the headlamp-to-fascia moulding screw and the headlamp-to-fascia moulding.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 headlamp housing-to-fender screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the sound filler insulator.
  10.  
  11. Detach the fiber optics connector and remove the fender assembly.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Position the fender assembly and attach the fiber optics connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the sound filler insulator.
  4.  
  5. Install the 4 upper fender-to-body screws and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the hood hinge stop bumper. The bumper must be set at the proper height to eliminate hood hinge damage. Refer to the appropriate illustration for reference.
  8.  
  9. Install the 2 headlamp housing-to-fender screws and install the headlamp-to-fascia moulding.
  10.  
  11. Install the 4 hood hinge-to-body screws and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the 2 lower screws to the fender.
  14.  
  15. Install the rocker panel moulding.
  16.  
  17. Install the 2 screws above the cornering lamps.
  18.  
  19. Install the wheel opening moulding and the wheelwell inner panel.
  20.  
  21. Install the sill plate and the sill plate insert.
  22.  
  23. Adjust the sheet metal to the proper tolerances.
  24.  

1992-98
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the headlamp housing cover and engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the headlamp housing assembly from Eldorado as follows:
    1. Remove the upper filler panel.
    2.  
    3. Remove the bolt retaining the cornering lamp housing.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the cornering lamp sockets.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 2 nuts retaining the headlamp housing assembly to the fender and the 2 bolts retaining the headlamp housing to the rail.
    8.  
    9. Remove the lower headlamp housing-to-body bolt.
    10.  
    11. Detach the wiring harness connector and remove the headlamp housing assembly.
    12.  

  6.  
  7. Remove the headlamp housing assembly from Seville as follows:
    1. Remove the 4 push pins and the upper filler panel.
    2.  
    3. Remove the clip retaining the cornering lamp to the headlamp housing module.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 6 bolts and 4 nuts retaining the headlamp module to the rail.
    6.  
    7. Detach the wiring harness connector and remove the headlamp housing assembly.
    8.  

  8.  
  9. Remove the wheelwell panel extension and wheelwell panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the wheel opening moulding.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fender sound insulator.
  14.  
  15. Remove the screws, retaining clip and the front rocker panel moulding.
  16.  
  17. Support the hood and remove the 2 hood hinge-to-fender screws.
  18.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts retaining the fender at the rocker panel and the 2 bolts retaining the fender to the fascia sliding mount.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 5 fender-to-outer rail bolts and remove the fender.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Position the fender to the body and install the 5 fender-to-outer rail bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 fender-to-fascia sliding mount bolts and the 2 bolts retaining the fender at the rocker panel.
  4.  
  5. Adjust the sheet metal to the proper tolerances, then tighten the bolts to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Position the hood hinge to the fender. Install the 2 screws and tighten to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the rocker panel end cap.
  10.  
  11. Install the fender sound insulator. The outboard edge of the insulator should be located rearward so it makes contact with the upper fender reinforcement.
  12.  
  13. Install the wheelwell panel and extension.
  14.  
  15. Install the wheel opening moulding.
  16.  
  17. Install the headlamp housing assembly in the reverse order of removal.
  18.  
  19. Install the headlamp housing cover and engine compartment fuse and relay center cover.
  20.
