HOOD LATCH AND HINGES
Clean the latch surfaces, apply clean engine oil or all-purpose lithium grease to the latch pilot bolts, spring anchor, and hood hinges as well. Use chassis grease to lubricate all the pivot points in the latch release mechanism.
The gas tank filler door, front door hinges, and rear trunk hinges, should be wiped clean and lubricated with multi-purpose grease spray. Use engine oil to lubricate the trunk lock mechanism and the lock bolt and striker. The door lock cylinders can be lubricated easily with a silicone spray or one of the many dry penetrating lubricants commercially available.
The door weather-strips may be lubricated using silicone type grease. Apply a thin film using a clean cloth.
PARKING BRAKE LINKAGE
Use chassis grease on the parking brake cable where it contacts the guides, links, levers, and pulleys.
Do not lubricate the parking brake cables. Lubrication can destroy the plastic coating on the cables.
