  6.
  7. Drain the fuel tank using a suitable hand operated or air operated pump to remove the fuel.
  8.

CAUTION
Observe all applicable safety precautions when working around fuel. Whenever servicing the fuel system, always work in a well-ventilated area. Do not allow fuel spray or vapors to be exposed to a spark or open flame. Keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher near the work area. Always keep fuel in a container specifically designed for fuel storage; also, always properly seal fuel containers to avoid the possibility of fire or explosion.

NOTE
If the nylon fuel feed or return lines become kinked and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced. Do not attempt to repair sections of nylon fuel lines. If they are damaged, replace them.

  1. Remove the rear bumper fascia.
  2.
  3. Remove the rear frame support.
  4.
  5. Disconnect the fuel feed line at the fuel filter and the return line near the fuel filter.
  6.
  7. Detach the fuel sender electrical connector.
  8.

NOTE
Do not bend the fuel tank retaining straps, as this may damage the straps.

  1. With the aid of an assistant, support the fuel tank and remove the front fuel tank retaining strap attaching bolts (2), rear fuel tank strap attaching bolts (2), and both fuel tank retaining straps.
  2.
  3. Lower the tank and detach the EVAP fuel tank pressure sensor connector.
    1. Place the fuel tank in a suitable work area.
    2.
    3. Using a clean shop towel, wipe off the male line ends.
    4.
    5. Inspect all the connectors for dirt and damage. Clean or replace the components/assemblies as required.
    6.

  4.

Early Model Fleetwood, Deville, Eldorado, and Seville
