REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Using a scratch awl, scribe the outline of the hinge onto the hood. If equipped with a hood light, disengage the electrical connector.
  2.
  3. Using an assistant to support the hood, remove the hinge-to-hood bolts. Remove the hood.
  4.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check the hood alignment with the hood latch.
  6.

ALIGNMENT

When aligning the hood and the latch, align the hood (first), then the latch (second).

Hood

The hood hinge-to-body mount is slotted to provide forward and rearward movement. Adjust the hood so that it is flush with the body sheet metal.

  1. Using a scratch awl, scribe the hinge outline onto the hood.
  2.
  3. Loosen the appropriate screws and shift the hood into proper alignment with the vehicle sheet metal.
  4.

CAUTION
Make sure that the rear of the hood is properly positioned at the cowl seal; proper sealing will restrict fumes from the engine compartment from being pulled through the cowl vent.

  1. After adjustment, tighten the appropriate screws.
  2.

Latch

The hood latch assembly is mounted on a plate with elongated holes, which allow vertical adjustment.

Striker

The striker, on the hood, adjusts laterally to align with the hood latch assembly.
