REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

CAUTION
To avoid personal injury, you must use a scan tool to relieve the gear tension in the hydraulic modulator. This is a function of the scan tool and must be performed prior to removal of the brake control and motor assembly.

  1. Use a Tech 1® scan tool to perform the gear tension relief sequence.
  2.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.
  5. Remove the air cleaner duct assembly.
  6.
  7. Detach the two ABS brake solenoid valve electrical connectors.
  8.
  9. Unplug the brake pressure differential warning switch electrical connector.
  10.
  11. Detach the 6-way ABS brake motor pack electrical connector.
  12.
  13. Wrap a shop towel around the hydraulic brake lines and disconnect the 5 brake lines (2 to master cylinder and 3 to wheel brakes) from the modulator. Do not left fluid enter the bottom of the motor pack or electrical connectors.
