REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Speakers

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front side door trim panel.
  4.  
  5. If necessary, remove the side door water deflector.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the speaker attaching bolts, then pull the speakers from the doors just enough to access the connectors.
  8.

  1. Detach the electrical connectors, then remove the speakers from the vehicle.
  2.  

To install
  1. Attach the speaker electrical connectors, then position the speakers to the door.
  2.  
  3. Install the speaker retaining bolts and tighten to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm).
  4.  
  5. If removed, install the water deflector.
  6.  
  7. Install the front side door trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

Rear Sail/Quarter Panel Speakers

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front quarter trim finishing panel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Unfasten the speaker attaching screws/bolts, then pull the speaker up enough to access the connector.
  6.  
  7. Detach the electrical connector, then remove the speaker from the vehicle.
  8.

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

Rear Speakers

See Figure 3

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inner rear trim finishing panel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Depending upon the year of the vehicle either remove the speaker attaching screws or drill the retaining rivets out.
  6.  
  7. Rotate the speaker counterclockwise, then pull the speaker out of its mounting.
  8.

  1. Detach the electrical connector, then remove the speaker from the vehicle.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Attach the speaker electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. If the speakers were retained with rivets proceed as follows:
    1. Drill two 1 / 16 in. holes in the rear quarter trim finishing panel speaker mounting bosses as shown in the accompanying figure.
    2.  
    3. Place the speaker in position, then rotate clockwise until the holes in the speaker align with the drilled holes.
    4.  
    5. Install two self-tapping bolts/screws into the drilled holes and tighten securely.
    6.  

  4.  
  5. If the speakers were retained with bolts or screws, perform the following:
    1. Place the speakers in position and rotate clockwise.
    2.  
    3. Install the speaker attaching screws and tighten to 17 inch lbs. (1.9 Nm).
    4.  

  6.  
  7. Install the trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
