REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Make sure the window is in the fully raised position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the inside door trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the water deflector.
  8.  
  9. If equipped, detach the lock electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the inside handle rod from the upper clip.
  12.  
  13. Use needle-nose pliers to remove the upper clip. Discard the clip.
  14.  
  15. Remove the locking rod from the lower clip.
  16.  
  17. Remove the lower clip using needle-nose pliers, then discard the clip.
  18.  
  19. Remove the outside handle rod from the retainer, as follows:
    1. Use right-angle needle-nose pliers to squeeze the retainer tabs and pull the retainer through the hole.
    2.  
    3. Unscrew the retainer from the outside handle rod, then discard the retainer.
    4.

  21. Detach the lock cylinder rod from the clip.
  22.  
  23. Remove the clip from the lock using needle-nose pliers, then discard the clip.
  24.  
  25. Unfasten the retaining bolts/screws, then remove the lock through the access hole.

To install
  1. Install the lock through the access hole.
  2.  
  3. Instlal the retaining bolts/screws and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install a new clip into the lock.
  6.  
  7. Install the lock cylinder rod into the clip.
  8.  
  9. Install a new retainer to the lock.
  10.  
  11. Attach the outside handle rod to the retainer, as follows:
    1. Line up the lower end of the outside handle rod to the retainer.
    2.  
    3. Snap the outside handle rod into the back half of the retainer.
    4.  
    5. Snap the retainer cover closed over the threaded part of the outside handle rod.
    6.

  13. Install a new lower clip to the lock.
  14.  
  15. Attach the locking rod to the clip.
  16.  
  17. Install a new upper clip to the lock.
  18.  
  19. Attach the inside handle rod to the clip.
  20.  
  21. Install the inside door water deflector.
  22.  
  23. Install the inside door trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26.
