REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Parking and Turn Signal

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front bumper fascia lower deflector.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the parking light bolts/screw from the parking and turn signal lamp assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the parking light and turn signal assembly from the shelf on the bumper fascia.
  10.  
  11. Remove the front side marker bulb, parking and turn signal bulb and socket assemblies from the parking and turn signal lamp.
  12.

  1. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s).
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the bulb(s) into their respective sockets, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Install the front sidemarker lamp bulb, parking and turn signal lamp bulb and sockets to the parking/turn signal lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the parking and turn signal lamp to the shelf on the front bumper fascia. Install the retaining bolts/screws and tighten to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the front bumper fascia lower deflector.
  8.  
  9. Carefully lower the vehicle, then connect the negative battery cable and check operation of the lights.
  10.  

Front Side Marker Lights

The front side marker lights are mounted in the front turn signal/parking lamp assembly.

Rear Side Marker Lights

See Figures 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts/screws from the rear side marker lamp assembly.
  4.

  1. Remove the lamp assembly from the rear bumper fascia.
  2.

  1. Remove the bulb and socket assembly from the rear sidemarker lamp.

  1. Remove the rear side marker bulb from the socket assembly.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install a new bulb in the rear side marker socket.
  2.  
  3. Install the bulb and socket assembly into the rear side marker lamp.
  4.  
  5. Position the lamp assembly to the rear bumper fascia and install the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 12 inch lbs. (1.4 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and check for proper lamp operation.
  8.  

Rear Turn Signal, Brake and Parking Lights
CHEVROLET

See Figures 7 through 13

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Reposition the rear compartment trim.
  4.

  1. Unfasten the nuts attaching the tail light from the rear end finishing panel.
  2.

  1. Remove the tail light from the rear finishing panel.

  1. Rotate the necessary socket 90 degrees and remove from the tail light assembly.
  2.

  1. Remove the brake, turn signal or back-up light bulb(s) from the their socket(s), as necessary. Refer to the accompanying illustration for locations.

To install:
  1. Install a new brake, turn signal or back-up light bulb to the proper socket, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Position the socket into the tail lamp housing and rotate 90 degrees to lock into position.
  4.  
  5. Install the tail lamp assembly to the rear end finishing panel and secure with the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Position the rear compartment trim to its original position.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable and check light operation.
  10.  

PONTIAC

See Figure 14

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove or reposition the rear compartment trim assembly, as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tail lamp assembly plastic wing nuts from inside the rear compartment.
  6.  
  7. Remove the tail lamp assembly from the rear end panel.
  8.  
  9. If necessary, remove the tail lamp filler. Both tail lamps must be removed to replace the filler assembly.
  10.  
  11. Rotate the applicable socket 90 degrees then pull it out of the lamp assembly.
  12.

  1. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s).
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the necessary bulbs into the appropriate sockets.
  2.  
  3. Position the socket in the rear tail lamp assembly and rotate 90 degrees to lock into place.
  4.  
  5. If removed, install the tail lamp filler.
  6.  
  7. Position the tail lamp assembly to the rear end panel and secure with the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Position or install the rear compartment trim, as applicable.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable and check for proper light operation.
  12.  

High-mount Brake Light

See Figures 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Either remove the screws attaching the lamp assembly to the rear spoiler or the lens to the lamp assembly, then remove the high mount brake light from the spoiler.
  4.

  1. If necessary, remove the high mount brake light nuts.
  2.  
  3. Detach the electrical connectors from the sockets.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bulb and socket assembly from the lens.
  6.

  1. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket.
  2.  

To install
  1. Install the bulb(s) into the socket.
  2.  
  3. Secure the bulb and socket assemblies into the lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. Attach the electrical connectors to the sockets.
  6.  
  7. If removed, install the high mount stop light nuts.
  8.  
  9. Position the high mount stop light to the rear end spoiler and install the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 15 inch lbs. (1.7 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable, then check the high mount stop light for proper operation.
  12.  

Dome Light

See Figure 20

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the dome lamp bolts/screws enough to pull the dome light housing from the headliner.
  4.  
  5. Detach the electrical connector from the dome light.
  6.

  1. Remove the bulb from the dome light housing assembly.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install a new bulb in the dome light housing.
  2.  
  3. Attach the electrical connector to the dome light.
  4.  
  5. Use the locating pins to position the dome light housing to the headliner trim panel and install the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 15 inch lbs. (1.7 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

Passenger Area Lamps

The passenger area courtesy lamps can be replaced by first removing the appropriate trim panel, then removing the bulb from the socket. Most panels are fastened by screws or snap-fasteners. Be careful not to force the trim panel off, as you may damage it. Do not pry with tools which may damage the panel, use tools designed for panel removal only.

License Plate Lights

See Figures 21, 22, 23 and 24

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unfasten the screws securing the license plate lamp assembly to the rear bumper fascia.
  4.

  1. Remove the light bulb and socket from the lamp assembly.

To install:
  1. Install the bulb in the license plate socket.
  2.  
  3. Position the bulb and socket in the license plate lamp housing.
  4.  
  5. Position the lamp assembly to the rear bumper fascia and secure with the retaining bolts/screws. Tighten to 17 inch lbs. (1.9 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.
