OPERATION



The VSS is located on the transmission and sends a pulsing voltage signal to the ECM which is converted to miles per hour. This sensor mainly controls the operation of the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) system.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the VSS electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the retaining bolt.
  8.  
  9. Have a clean container to catch the transmission fluid and remove the VSS.
  10.  
  11. Remove and discard the O-ring.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Lubricate a new O-ring with a thin film of transmission fluid. Install the O-ring and VSS.
  2.  
  3. Install the retaining bolt.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. Refill transmission to proper level.
  12.  

Due to the intricacy of the system and the special testing equipment required, it is recommended that a qualified technician perform any testing, adjusting, or replacement of the system components.
