Speedometer

Only 1990 vehicles have a replaceable speedometer, all 1991-93 vehicle instrument clusters must be replaced as an assembly.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the left hand sound insulators.
  4.  
  5. Remove the steering column and left side trim plate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the trip odometer knob, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screws and unsnap the speedometer lens-to-instrument cluster carrier.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws attaching the face and adapter plates to the cluster carrier. Remove the face and adapter plates.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screws attaching the speedometer to the cluster carrier.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the speedometer cable at the speedometer assembly.
  16.  
  17. Remove the screws securing the speed sensor pick-up to the speedometer head. Remove the speedometer assembly.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install the screws securing the speed sensor pick-up to the speedometer head. Install the speedometer assembly.
  2.  
  3. Connect the speedometer cable at the speedometer assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the screws attaching the speedometer to the cluster carrier.
  6.  
  7. Install the screws attaching the face and adapter plates to the cluster carrier.
  8.  
  9. Install the screws and snap-in the speedometer lens-to-instrument cluster carrier.
  10.  
  11. Install the trip odometer knob, if equipped.
  12.  
  13. Install the steering column and left side trim plate.
  14.  
  15. Install the left hand sound insulators.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18.
