ADJUSTMENT

Before attempting to adjust the parking brake, verify the rear brakes are correctly adjusted. If rear brakes are adjusted properly, the parking brake original adjustment should not have to be changed.

  1. Clean and lubricate the exposed threads of the adjuster rod, to either side of the nut.
  2.
  3. Apply the parking brake 3 clicks for 1990 vehicles or 6 clicks for 1991-93 vehicles, then raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.
  5. Tighten the adjusting nut until the rear wheels can barely be turned backward, using 2 hands, but lock up when moved forward.
  6.
  7. With the parking brake disengaged the rear wheel should turn freely in either direction with no brake drag.
  8.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.
