Print

CAUTION
To reduce the risk of fire or personal injury, it is necessary to relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing the fuel system.

EXCEPT 1985-86 2.0L (OHV) ENGINES

  1. Remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse block.
  2.
  3. Crank the engine. The engine will start and run until the fuel supply in the pipes is gone. Crank the engine again for 3 seconds making sure it is out of fuel.
  4.
  5. Turn the ignition off and replace the fuse.
  6.

1985-86 2.0L (OHV)

The TBI injection systems used on the 1985-86 engines contain a constant bleed feature in the pressure regulator that relieves pressure any time the engine is turned off. Therefore, no special relieve procedure is required, however, a small amount of fuel may be released when the fuel line is disconnected.

CAUTION
To reduce the chance of personal injury, cover the fuel line with cloth to collect the fuel and then place the cloth in an approved container.
