REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Manual
  1. Working from underneath the dash, disconnect the antenna cable from the radio.
  2.  
  3. Unscrew the antenna from the fender, then remove it from the car, with the cable attached.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Insert the new antenna cable lead into the fender wheel, then route the lead towards the radio. Attach the lead into the back of the radio.
  2.  
  3. Screw the antenna mast into the fender. Check operation.
  4.  

Fixed

See Figure 1

  1. Remove the antenna mast from the base. Remove the trim piece from the antenna housing.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the antenna housing mounting screws.
  4.

  1. Loosen and remove the antenna lead-in cable, routing the cable out through the engine compartment.
  2.  
  3. Remove the antenna base assembly.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Install the base assembly. Route the lead-in cable through the engine compartment towards the radio.
  2.  
  3. Secure the antenna housing with the mounting screws and tighten to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the trim for the antenna housing. Install the antenna onto the base.
  6.  

Power

Because of the varied applications of power antennas, the following general power antenna removal and installation procedures are outlined. These removal steps can be altered as necessary.

FRONT MOUNTED TYPE
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel sound absorber pad.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna lead-in and harness connector from the relay assembly.
  6.  
  7. Apply masking tape to the rear edge of the fender and door.
  8.  
  9. If required, remove the inner to outer fender retaining screws.
  10.  
  11. If required, raise the vehicle and support it safely; then remove the associated front wheel assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower rocker panel retaining screws, lower fender to body retaining bolt and remove the lower rocker panel, as required.
  14.  
  15. Remove the inner splash shield from the fender, as required.
  16.  
  17. Remove the upper antenna retaining nut, using an appropriately tool.
  18.  
  19. Remove the antenna to bracket retaining bolts, then remove the antenna.
  20.  

To install:
  1. Fit the antenna into position, then loosely install the antenna gasket and upper nut.
  2.  
  3. Loosely install the antenna to bracket retaining bolts.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the upper antenna retaining nut, using the appropriately tool, then tighten the antenna to bracket retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Complete installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  
  9. Apply silicone grease to the harness connector before reconnecting.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  
  13. Check the operation of the antenna mast. Reset the clock, radio and any other accessories if required.
  14.  

REAR MOUNTED TYPE
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. From inside the trunk, remove the trim panel from either the right or left rear wheel area.
  4.  
  5. Remove the antenna mounting bracket retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper antenna nut and bezel from the antenna, using an appropriately tool.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lead-in cable and wiring connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the antenna assembly from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Fit the antenna to the vehicle, then connect the lead-in cable.
  2.  
  3. Install the nut and bezel to the antenna and mounting bracket retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Apply silicone grease to the harness connector before reconnecting.
  6.  
  7. Install the trim panel and reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Check the operation of the antenna mast. Reset the clock, if required.
  10.
