Ventilation Ducts and Hoses

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Oldsmobile
DEFROSTER/LEFT AND CENTER DUCT
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the left and right sound insulators. Unassemble the steering column collar and trim cover, along with the lower column collar.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper and lower instrument panel bolts, then tilt the instrument panel forwards and unfasten the screws holding the duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the duct.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Attach the duct with the mounting screws, tighten to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Insert the instrument panel into position and mount with the upper and lower bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install the steering column, then insert the column trim cover and collar. Reinstall the sound insulators.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable, then reset the clock and radio.
  8.  

RIGHT OUTLET DUCT
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel, then remove the (usually) four screws mounting the duct.
  4.  
  5. Remove the duct.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Insert the duct into position, attach with the four screws.
  2.  
  3. Install the instrument panel.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable, then reset the clock and radio.
  6.  

Buick
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Unfasten the hoses to the side window defoggers.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the main duct bolts, then remove the duct.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the side window defogger duct bolts, then remove the duct.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the side window defogger ducts and secure with bolts.
  2.  
  3. Insert the main duct with the bolts from removal. Install the hoses.
  4.  
  5. Install the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable, then reset the clock and radio.
  8.
