REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
The one piece formed headlining consists of molded substrate covered with a foam backed cloth facing. The headlining is held in place with retainers at the rear of the headlining and the installation of related hardware and interior trim. The one piece construction requires the headlining be serviced as a complete assembly.
- Remove the sun visors.
- Remove the overhead console.
- Remove the sunshade retainers.
- Remove the dome lamp.
- Remove the sunroof trim lace.
- Remove the coat hook.
- Remove the rail lamp.
- Remove the windshield side upper garnish molding.
- Remove the upper quarter trim panels as well as the upper center pillar trim panels.
- Pull down on the door opening weather-strip seal on both front and rear doors.
- Remove the two retainers using a trim clip tool.
- Hook and loop material (sometimes called Velcro®) is used to retain the headliners. GM recommends their J 2772 C Headliner tool be used, but a rounded, dull tool can be substituted to work between the hook and loop material, working the two side apart, until the headliner is loose.
- Work the headliner free and out through the right front door.
Use care not to bend the headlining too much when removing or installing.
- Install the headliner through the right front door, using care not to bend it too much.
- Align the sunshade holes in the headlining with their respective holes in the body structure and engage the hook and loop fasteners. Install the two rear retainers.
- Install the door opening weather-strip seal to hold the headliner in place on both the front and rear doors.
- Install the upper center pillar trim panels as well as the lower and upper quarter trim panels.
- Install the windshield side upper garnish molding. The rail lamp, coat hook, sunroof trim lace and dome lamp.
- Install the sunshade retainers, overhead console and the sunshades.
