Outside Mirrors

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



In general, the outside mirrors are mounted with either studs and nuts or bolts, depending on body style. The mirror face should be replaceable without removing the entire mirror. Left side and right side convex mirror faces are different and must be replaced with the same type mirror face when serviced.

Manual Mirror
  1. Remove the door trim panel using the procedures found in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the mirror reinforcement cover
  4.  
  5. Remove the manual mirror attaching fasteners and remove the mirror from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Route the mirror control cable through the opening in the door panel at the mirror reinforcement.
  2.  
  3. Position the mirror to the door. On sedan models, the front edge of the mirror should be tucked under the channel. Slide the mirror forward as far as possible so the mirror is flush with the belt molding. Install the fasteners, as equipped and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  5. Install the mirror reinforcement cover.
  6.  
  7. Install the interior door trim panel.
  8.  

Electric Mirror
  1. Remove the door trim panel using the procedures found in this section.
  2.  
  3. Detach the electric mirror electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mirror reinforcement cover
  6.  
  7. Remove the manual mirror attaching fasteners and remove the mirror from the vehicle.
  8.

To install:

  1. Route the mirror electrical harness through the opening in the door panel at the mirror reinforcement.
  2.  
  3. Position the mirror to the door. On sedan models, the front edge of the mirror should be tucked under the channel. Slide the mirror forward as far as possible so the mirror is flush with the belt molding. Install the fasteners, as equipped. Start tightening at the lower left fastener (could be a nut or a small bolt) and tighten in a clockwise direction. Tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  5. Install the mirror reinforcement cover.
  6.  
  7. Attach the electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Install the interior door trim panel.
  10.
