REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Chevrolet Lumina and Monte Carlo
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable after first disabling the Theftlock® feature of the radio, if equipped.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front floor console trim plate using the following procedure:
    1. Remove the cigarette lighter.
    2.  
    3. Remove the transaxle shift handle.
    4.  
    5. Remove the front floor console trim plate by unsnapping from the console.
    6.  
    7. Detach the automatic transaxle control indicator socket and bulb from the trim plate and detach the electrical connector from the trim plate.

  1. Remove the CD storage bin at the front of the console by unsnapping it.
  2.  
  3. Raise the console armrest and remove the compartment mat. Remove the screws from console.
  4.  
  5. Detach the electrical connectors and remove the front floor console from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal process. Start with the front right console retaining screws and continue in a clockwise order. Tighten the screws to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

Oldsmobile
CUTLASS SUPREME
  1. Remove the transaxle shift handle. Look for a horseshoe-shaped clip just below the top of the handle. Use a small hook to pull out the retainer so the handle can be lifted from the shifter lever.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screws from the rear compartment in the front floor console.
  4.  
  5. Remove the floor console transaxle shift opening trim by prying with a small flat-bladed tool. Pry gently at the two rear tabs with the same flat-bladed tool.

  1. Remove the front floor console armrest by raising the armrest, then removing the ashtray and steel flame plate. Loosen the screws in the ashtray area and pry the sides of the base apart. Remove the armrest at the rear hinge area, from between the base halves.
  2.  
  3. Detach the console wiring and electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws from the console and remove the console from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal process. When installing the shifter handle, make sure the retaining clip is fully seated.
  8.  

INTRIGUE
  1. Remove the front console trim plate.
  2.  
  3. Detach the necessary electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws from the console mounting bracket at the rear of the shift lever.
  6.  
  7. Open the console armrest. Remove the mat from the bottom of the storage compartment.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screws from the of the storage compartment.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws from the console mounting bracket at the rear of the storage compartment base and from the front mounting point.
  12.  
  13. Remove the console rearward, up and out.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of the removal process.
  16.  

Pontiac Grand Prix
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable after first disabling the Theftlock® feature of the radio, if equipped.
  2.  
  3. Remove the console trim plate using the following procedure.
    1. Raise the armrest and remove the storage compartment and mat from the console base.
    2.  
    3. Detach the electrical connectors from the driver's seat heater switch, if equipped
    4.  
    5. Open the cup holder by pulling the cup holder door forward. Pull up on the trim plate starting with the rear two clips behind the cup holder, working forward. Remove the trim plate from the console.

  5. Remove the screws from the console mounting bracket at the rear of the storage compartment base and the rear of the transaxle shift lever.
  6.  
  7. Pull the console rearward to release the console from the retainer in the lower instrument panel. Detach any remaining electrical connectors and remove the console from the vehicle.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Align the locating pins on the console bracket to the instrument panel console retainer hole and slots, Push the console forward into the instrument panel until fully seated.
  2.  
  3. Install the remaining components.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  

Buick Century and Regal
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Apply the parking brake.
  4.  
  5. Reposition the transaxle shift lever to the LOW position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the console trim plate using the following procedure:
    1. Pull the trim plate upwards, starting at the front and working back to release the tabs at the retainers.
    2.  
    3. Detach the electrical connectors from the driver's seat heater switch, if equipped.
    4.  
    5. Remove the trim plate from the vehicle.
    6.

  9. Remove the rubber mat from the storage compartment in the console. Remove the screws from the storage compartment.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws from the console mounting bracket at the rear of the transaxle shifter lever.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screws from the forward edge of the console.
  14.  
  15. Detach the electrical connectors and pull the console rearward to release the tabs from the retainers in the instrument panel. Remove the console from the vehicle.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of the removal process. Align the console over the transaxle shifter and position the console tabs to the retainers in the instrument panel. Press the console forward into the retainers until fully seated. Use care to align the console with the mounting brackets.
  18.  
  19. Once the console is installed, return the transaxle shift lever to PARK. Release the parking brake.
  20.  
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22.
