Outside Mirrors

A damaged mirror glass face may be replaced by placing a large piece or multiple strips of tape over the glass then breaking the mirror face. Adhesive back mirror faces should be available for most applications.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4

Standard Mirror
  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to the procedures later in this section for more information.
  2.  
  3. Remove the mirror base-to-door outer panel stud nuts, then remove the mirror from the door.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Position the base gasket, then install the mirror and secure using the retainers.
  2.  
  3. Install the door trim panel.
  4.

Manual Remote Mirror
LEFT SIDE
  1. Remove the door trim panel and detach the remote control lever. Peel back the insulator and water deflector to gain access to the mirror cable.
  2.  
  3. Detach the cable from any retaining tabs in the door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the attaching nuts, then remove the mirror and cable assembly from the door.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the base gasket, then install the mirror and secure using the retainers.
  2.  
  3. Install the cable to any retaining tabs located in the door.
  4.  
  5. Attach the remote control lever, then reposition the insulator and water deflector. Install the door trim panel.
  6.  

RIGHT SIDE
  1. Remove the door trim panel and detach the remote control lever. Peel back the insulator and water deflector to gain access to the mirror cable.
  2.  
  3. On styles with the instrument panel mounted control, remove the set screw from from the control knob.
  4.  
  5. Remove the shroud side finishing panel as follows:
    1. Remove the sill plate screws and sill plate.
    2.  
    3. If equipped, remove the litter container.
    4.  
    5. Remove the screw retaining the hinge pillar pinch-weld upper finishing lace.
    6.  
    7. Grasp the shroud finishing panel at the forward edge toward the dash panel and pull inward to disengage the plastic retaining clip, and slide the panel rearward.
    8.

  7. Feed the remote cable through the shroud and rubber conduit between the door and pillar, then detach the cable from any retaining tabs in the door.
  8.  
  9. Remove the attaching nuts, then remove the mirror and cable assembly from the door.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Position the base gasket, then install the mirror and secure using the retainers.
  2.  
  3. Feed the remote cable through the shroud and rubber conduit between the door and pillar, making sure it is secured in any door retaining tabs.
  4.  
  5. Install the shroud side finishing panel:
    1. Slide the panel into position and engage the plastic retaining clip.
    2.  
    3. Install the screw retaining the hinge pillar pinch-weld upper finishing lace.
    4.  
    5. If equipped, install the litter container.
    6.  
    7. Install the sill plate and secure using the retaining screws.
    8.

  7. On styles with the instrument panel mounted control, install the set screw to the control knob.
  8.  
  9. Attach the remote control lever, then verify that the mirror is operating properly. Reposition the insulator and water deflector, then install the door trim panel.

Power Operated Mirror
RIGHT AND LEFT
  1. Remove the door trim panel and disconnect the wire harness at the connector. Peel back the insulator pad and water deflector enough to gain access to the wire harness.
  2.  
  3. Detach the harness from any retaining tabs in the door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the attaching nuts and remove the mirror and harness assembly from the door.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the mirror and harness assembly to the door, then secure using the attaching nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install the harness to any retaining tabs present in the door.
  4.  
  5. Engage the wire harness connector, then verify proper mirror operation.
  6.  
  7. Reposition the insulator and water deflector, then install the door trim panel.
  8.
