REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1988-89 Vehicles

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box and the right sound insulator.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the cables from the module.
  6.  
  7. Remove the control panel trim plate, then remove the control assembly.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  10.

1990 Vehicles
MODELS WITHOUT A/C
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the control cables.
  4.  
  5. Remove the control cable retaining screws, then remove the control assembly from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  8.  

MODELS WITH A/C

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. For Corsicas, perform the following:
    1. Unsnap the radio trim ring.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 4 radio retaining screws.
    4.  
    5. Detach the electrical and vacuum harness from the rear of the radio/control assembly.
    6.  

  4.  
  5. For Berettas, perform the following:
    1. Remove the 2 screws securing the control trim panel and trim panel.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the vacuum and electrical harness from the rear of the heater and A/C control assembly.
    4.  

  6.  
  7. Remove the four screws securing the heater and A/C control assembly to the radio face plate, then remove the control assembly from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Position the heater and A/C control assembly in its mounting position and secure with the retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. For Berettas, perform the following:
    1. Connect the vacuum and electrical harness to the back of the control assembly.
    2.  
    3. Instlal the trim panel and 2 retaining screws.
    4.  

  4.  
  5. For Corsicas, perform the following:
    1. Attach the electrical and vacuum harness to the rear of the radio/control assembly.
    2.  
    3. Install the 4 screws securing the radio, then install the radio trim ring.
    4.  

  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

1991-96 Vehicles

See Figures 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bezel from the instrument panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the heater control assembly retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Detach the electrical connector from the heater control assembly.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the vacuum harness from the heater control assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the heater and A/C control assembly from the vehicle.
  12.

To install:
  1. Position the heater and A/C control assembly in the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Attach the vacuum harness and the electrical connector to the heater control assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the heater control retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the instrument panel bezel.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
