Windshield Wiper Switch

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1988-90 Vehicles

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the switch by using a suitable flat-bladed tool to gently pry behind the switch.
  4.  
  5. Pull the switch away from the instrument panel, then detach the wiring.
  6.  
  7. Remove the switch from the vehicle.
  8.

To install
  1. Connect the wires to the new switch and press it into the instrument panel to the same depth as the old switch.
  2.  
  3. Connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper wiper operation.
  4.  

1991-96 Vehicles

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument cluster bezel/trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Squeeze the small knob at the side, then pull straight out.
  6.  
  7. Insert a small flat-bladed tool into the slots adjacent to the center of the inner knob to disengage the knob from the switch.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the screws attaching the wiper switch to the bezel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the wiper switch from the vehicle.
  12.

To install:
  1. Position the switch to the bezel, then secure with the attaching screws.
  2.  
  3. Position the inner knob on the switch. Ensure the tabs are lined up with the slots and press to secure the knob.
  4.  
  5. Position the outer knob on the switch and align the D-shaped hole in the knob to the shaft on the switch and press to secure the knob.
  6.  
  7. Install the instrument cluster bezel/trim plate.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
