Window Regulator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front

See Figure 1

  1. Tape the glass in the full up position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the armrest support brackets or hanger plates. Drill out the hanger plate rivets using a 3 / 16 in. drill bit.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the water deflector.
  8.  
  9. On all 1990-96 models, except 1990 Beretta, remove the lock module assembly as outlined earlier.
  10.  
  11. Drill out the four regulator retaining rivets using a 3 / 16 in. drill bit.
  12.  
  13. Remove the regulator by disengaging the roller from the glass sash channel, disconnecting the electrical connector to the motor (power window systems) and removing the regulator through the door inner access hole.
  14.  

If you wish to remove the electric motor from the regulator, refer to the Electric Window Motor procedure. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and can cause personal injury if the sector gear is not locked in position.

To install:
  1. Install the regulator through the door inner access hole and attach the roller to the sash channel.
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the motor (power window systems).
  4.  
  5. Install the rivets using 1 / 4 in. peel type.
  6.  
  7. On all 1990-96 models, except 1990 Beretta, install the lock module assembly as outlined earlier.
  8.  
  9. Install the water deflector.
  10.  
  11. Install the armrest support brackets or hanger plates using new rivets.
  12.  
  13. Install the trim panel.
  14.  

Rear

See Figure 1

  1. Tape the glass in the full up position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the armrest support bracket or hanger plate, using a 3 / 16 in. drill bit.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the water deflector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 regulator to sash channel retaining screws.
  10.  
  11. Drill out the regulator retaining rivets using a 1 / 4 in. drill bit.
  12.  
  13. Remove the regulator by disengaging the roller from the glass sash channel, disconnecting the electrical connector to the motor (power window systems) and removing the regulator through the door inner access hole.

To install:
  1. Install the regulator through the door inner access hole and attach the roller to the sash channel.
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the motor (power window systems).
  4.  
  5. Install the regulator to sash retaining screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the rivets using 1 / 4 in. peel type.
  8.  
  9. Install the water deflector.
  10.  
  11. Install the armrest support bracket or hanger plate, using new rivets.
  12.  
  13. Install the trim panel.
