REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Parking/Turn Signal Lamps
BERETTA

See Figure 1

  1. Raise the hood, then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the headlight assembly as outlined earlier.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator-to-grille covers.
  6.  

The 2 center bolts can be loosened rather than be removed.

  1. Unfasten the 12 bolts holding the headlight mounting panel.
  2.  
  3. Detach the wiring harness clips from the headlamp panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the headlight mounting panel with the grille attached.
  6.  
  7. If necessary for access, remove the front energy absorber and rear shim as outlined in Routine Maintenance 0 of this repair guide.
  8.  
  9. Remove the socket by reaching from under the vehicle, pressing the tab (inner bulb) and twisting. If necessary, remove the bulb from the socket.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the retaining screw from the upper rear, then remove the lamp assembly.
  14.

To install:
  1. Position the lamp assembly, then secure with the 3 retaining screws.
  2.  
  3. Install a new bulb into the socket, then install the socket into the lamp assembly.
  4.  
  5. If removed, install the front energy absorber and rear shim as outlined in Routine Maintenance 0 of this repair guide.
  6.  
  7. Reposition the headlight mounting panel with the grille attached.
  8.  
  9. Attach the wiring harness clips to the headlamp panel.
  10.  
  11. Install the 12 bolts holding the headlight mounting panel.
  12.  
  13. Connect the radiator to grille cover.
  14.  
  15. Install the headlight assembly.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable, close the hood, then check for proper light operation.
  18.  

CORSICA

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bulb socket by reaching from under the vehicle, pressing the tab (inner bulb) and twisting. If necessary, remove the bulb from the socket.
  4.  
  5. Using a socket wrench with a long extension, reach through the hole in the front fascia and remove the bolt from the bottom of the light assembly.
  6.  
  7. Working through the light opening in the front fascia, remove the 2 bolts from the front of the assembly.
  8.  
  9. Carefully remove the lamp assembly through the front fascia opening.
  10.

To install:
  1. Install the lamp assembly, making sure the bolt holes on the top are above the bolt holes in the fascia.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 bolts at the front of the assembly, but do not fully tighten until the bottom bolt is installed.
  4.  
  5. Install the bolt at the bottom of the assembly. Tighten all of the bolts securely.
  6.  
  7. If necessary install a new bulb in the socket, then install the socket in the lamp assembly.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable, close the hood, then check for proper light operation.
  10.  

Front Side Marker Light

See Figures 3 and 4

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the Torx® screw from the front side marker light assembly, then remove the marker light assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the socket from the assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bulb, if replacing.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  10.  

Rear Turn Signal, Brake and Parking Lights

See Figures 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13


WARNING
Make sure to prevent water leaks if the sealing surfaces are disturbed. Damaged gaskets must be replaced and sealer used as necessary.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Open the trunk and remove the rear compartment inner trim, if equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 3 (Beretta) or 4 (Corsica) wing nuts, holding the taillamp assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the taillamp assembly by pulling straight back.
  8.  
  9. Remove the socket from the taillamp assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bulb(s) from the socket(s), if replacing.
  12.

To install:
  1. Place a new bulb in the socket, if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Install the socket into the tail lamp assembly.
  4.  

Check for proper gasket sealing before tightening the wing nuts.

  1. Position the taillamp assembly, then install the retaining wing nuts, 3 or 4 as applicable, securing the taillamp assembly.
  2.  
  3. If equipped, install the rear compartment inner trim. Close the trunk.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper lamp operation.
  6.  

Rear Side Marker Light
CORSICA

The rear side marker lights are and integral part of the rear turn signal, brake and parking light assembly. For removal and installation please refer to that procedure, located earlier in this section.

BERETTA

See Figure 14

Beretta has 2 side marker lights, one is part of the rear tail/stop/turn signal light assembly and one on the side of the vehicle. For information on the taillight assembly, refer to the procedure above.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the Torx® from the front of the rear side marker light assembly and remove the side marker light.
  4.  
  5. Remove the socket from the assembly.
  6.

  1. If necessary, remove the bulb from the socket and replace if with a new one.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  4.  

Center High-Mounted Brake Light
EXCEPT LUGGAGE CARRIER, HATCHBACK OR CONVERTIBLE

See Figure 15

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two retaining screws, one from each side of the light base.
  4.  
  5. Slide the assembly rearward.
  6.  
  7. Detach the electrical connector, by carefully opening the tab.
  8.

  1. Remove the light assembly from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  4.  

LUGGAGE CARRIER MOUNTED
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Open the trunk and remove the nuts holding the luggage carrier outer supports.
  4.  
  5. Remove the luggage carrier outer supports and crossbar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the gasket on the bottom of the light assembly.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the 2 nuts from the light assembly, then remove the light assembly from the carrier.
  10.  
  11. Detach the light electrical connector.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Position the light assembly, then install the 2 retaining nuts..
  4.  
  5. Place the gasket on the bottom of the light assembly.
  6.  
  7. Install the luggage carrier outer supports and crossbar.
  8.  
  9. Install the nuts holding the luggage carrier outer supports.
  10.  
  11. Close the trunk, then connect the negative battery cable and check for proper lamp operation.
  12.  

HATCHBACK
  1. Remove the interior finish panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 2 nuts from the light assembly.
  4.  
  5. Slide out the assembly.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector, by carefully opening the tab.
  8.  
  9. Remove the light assembly and replace the bulb, as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  12.  

CONVERTIBLE

See Figure 16

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unfasten the stoplamp-to-spoiler retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Pull the stoplamp up and away from the spoiler, then detach the wiring from the light.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake light assembly.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  10.

Dome Light
EXCEPT CONVERTIBLE

See Figures 17 and 18

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the courtesy lamp's fuse.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lens by it straight pulling down.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the 2 clips by loosening them slightly with a suitable prytool, then carefully pull with pliers.
  8.  
  9. Remove the assembly by lowering the rear of the light and pulling backward to release the clip at the front.
  10.

To install:
  1. Position the dome light assembly, making sure the clip on the front goes over the bracket.
  2.  
  3. Fasten the 2 clips by pushing them into place.
  4.  
  5. Install the lens and the fuse.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

CONVERTIBLE

See Figure 19

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screw and the lens from the lamp at the center of the stationary bow in the passenger compartment.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 bulbs from the clips in the lamp housing.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the screw attaching the lamp housing from the stationary bow.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the dome lamp housing from the wiring.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  12.

License Plate Light
CORSICA

The license plate light is an integral part of the rear turn signal, brake and parking light assembly. Refer to the located earlier in this section.

BERETTA
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 2 screws from the light assembly.
  4.  
  5. Unfasten the assembly by pulling out through the opening.
  6.  
  7. Remove the socket from the light assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bulb, if replacing.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  12.
