Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge if someone accidentally tries to start the engine.
Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve the tank vapor pressure. Do not tighten the cap until the service procedure is finished.
To reduce the chance of personal injury, cover the fuel line with cloth to collect the fuel and then place the cloth in an approved container.
The TBI Model 700 used on these engines contains a constant bleed feature to relieve pressure. Therefore, no special procedures are required for relieving fuel pressure. However, a small amount of fuel may be released after the fuel line is disconnected.
