PUSHING AND TOWING

Print

The vehicle may be towed by placing the transmission in Neutral as long as the speed does not exceed 35 mph (56.315 km) and the distance does not exceed 15 miles (24.135 km). If the above speeds and distances must be exceeded, the vehicles driveshaft must be disconnected first, or the rear wheels raised. The tow truck operator typically has a special dolly for this purpose. Towing with the rear wheels raised also requires the steering wheels to be locked in the straight ahead position (do not rely on the steering column lock for this purpose).
