REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.

CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Drain the coolant.
  2.
  3. Remove all necessary items in order to gain access to the affected freeze plug.
  4.
  5. Use a freeze plug removal tool and thread it into the center of the freeze plug.
  6.
  7. Remove the freeze plug from the engine.
  8.

To install:

  1. Spread water-proof sealant on the outside perimeter and back face of the new plug.
  2.
  3. Use an installing tool to install the plug squarely into its bore.
  4.
  5. Install all removed items.
  6.
  7. Fill the cooling system. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.
