FLUID RECOMMENDATION



Use only quality name-brand Heavy Duty Brake Fluid meeting dot 3 specifications. Do not use any other fluid whatsoever because severe brake system damage will certainly result.

The brake fluid in the master cylinder should be checked every 6 months/6,000 miles.

Check the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. If fluid is required, clean around the cap, then remove the screw-on filler cap and gasket from the master cylinder. Fill the reservoir to the full line in the reservoir with Heavy Duty Brake Fluid meeting dot 3 specifications only. Install the filler cap, making sure the gasket is properly seated in the cap. Make sure no dirt enters the system when adding fluid.

If fluid has to be added frequently, the system should be checked for a leak. Check for leaks at the master cylinder, calipers, rear wheel cylinders, proportioning valve, brake lines and abs components. If a leak is found, replace the component and bleed the system as outlined in Section 9 .
