Power Steering

When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, use gm P/N 1050017 or 1052884 power steering fluid or quality name-brand power steering fluid. Do not use automatic transmission fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid may cause hose and seal damage along with fluid leaks.

The power steering fluid reservoir is directly above the steering pump. The pump is located on top of the engine on the right (passenger's) side.

Power steering fluid level is indicated by marks on a fluid level indicator on the reservoir cap (capstick).

If the fluid is warmed up (about 150°F), the level should be between the hot and full cold marks.

If the fluid is cooler than above, the level should be at the full cold mark.
