REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Review the list under Useful Notes, above. Refer to the Air Bag section at the beginning of this Section, and disarm the Air Bag system.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Properly discharge the air conditioning system and drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the vacuum tank.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine compartment rear sight shield and fuse/relay block assembly and bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the accumulator and bracket.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the evaporator and the heater hoses from the heater core.
  12.  
  13. Remove the blower motor assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove electrical components from the evaporator/heater module case.
  16.  
  17. Remove all brackets from the evaporator/heater module.
  18.  
  19. Remove all hardware attaching module to the dash.
  20.  
  21. Cut the rubber insulator where indicated along the guide lines.
  22.  
  23. Pull down the rug and padding to prevent possible damage.
  24.  
  25. Remove the evaporator/heater module assembly.
  26.  
  27. Remove the evaporator cover and evaporator.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Install the evaporator and cover.
  2.  
  3. Install the evaporator/heater module assembly.
  4.  
  5. Use caulk to completely reseal where the rubber insulator was previously cut.
  6.  
  7. Install all hardware attaching module to the dash.
  8.  
  9. Install all brackets to the evaporator/heater module.
  10.  
  11. Install electrical components to the evaporator/heater module case.
  12.  
  13. Install the blower motor assembly.
  14.  
  15. Using new seals lubricated with refrigerant oil, connect the refrigerant lines to the evaporator and the heater hoses to the heater core.
  16.  
  17. Install the accumulator and bracket.
  18.  
  19. Install the relay bracket assembly and engine compartment rear sight shield.
  20.  
  21. Install the vacuum tank.
  22.  
  23. Connect the negative battery cable.
  24.  
  25. Evacuate, recharge, and leak test the air conditioning system. Add 2 oz. of refrigerant oil during the recharge.
  26.  
  27. Check the climate control system for proper operation.
  28.  
  29. Refer to the Air Bag section at the beginning of this Section, and arm the Air Bag system.
