R-12 automotive refrigerant is extremely damaging to human skin and eyes. Always wear hand and eye protection when working with refrigerant.
R-12 automotive refrigerants containing chlorofluorocarbon (cfc's) are tremendously hazardous to the earth's ozone layer in the upper atmosphere when released carelessly. Ozone filters out the harmful radiation from the sun that is known to cause skin cancer in humans.
To protect our atmosphere and ourselves, an R-12 Recovery/Recycling machine that meets sae standard J1991 and is ul approved, should be employed when discharging and/or charging the air conditioning system.
If you don't own the proper equipment, do not simply release the refrigerant into our atmosphere; instead take your car to an approved service station for repair.
If you leak check the system, do it with extra precision; after all, even the smallest leaks contribute to this serious atmospheric dilemma.
