REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Depressurize the hydraulic accumulator by applying and releasing the brake pedal a minimum of 20-25 times, using 50 lbs. of pedal force. A noticeable change in pedal feel will occur when the pressure is released.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the hydraulic unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the pump mounting bolts and move the energy unit to gain access to the brake lines.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the brake lines at the valve block.
  10.  
  11. Remove the left and right sound insulators if necessary.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the pushrod from the brake pedal and push the dust boot forward past the hex on the pushrod.
  14.  
  15. Separate the pushrod halves by unthreading the 2 pieces.
  16.  
  17. From under the hood, remove the hydraulic unit-to-pushrod mounting bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the hydraulic unit from the vehicle, the front part of the pushrod will remain locked into the hydraulic unit.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Install the hydraulic unit to the pushrod bracket. Tighten the support bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the pushrod halves by threading the 2 pieces together.
  4.  
  5. Install the pushrod to the brake pedal and reposition the dust boot.
  6.  
  7. Install the left and the right sound insulators.
  8.  
  9. Connect the brake lines to the valve block and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Reposition the energy unit and replace the pump mounting bolts.
  12.  
  13. Connect the electrical connections at the hydraulic unit.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable and bleed the brake system.
