  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Using a scratch awl or white paint, outline the hinge onto the hood. If equipped with a hood light, detach the electrical connector.
  2.
  3. Using an assistant to support the hood, remove the hinge-to-hood bolts. Remove the hood.
  4.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check the hood alignment with the hood latch.
  6.

Fig. Fig. 8: The positioning of the hood is adjusted by loosening the hinge-to-hood bolts, moving the hood, then tightening the mounting bolts securely

The hood hinge-to-body mount is slotted to provide forward and rearward movement. Adjust the hood so that it is flush with the body sheet metal.

  1. Using a scratch awl or white paint, mark the hinge outline onto the hood.
  2.
  3. Loosen the appropriate screws and shift the hood into proper alignment with the vehicle's sheet metal.
  4.

CAUTION
Make sure that the rear of the hood is properly positioned at the cowl seal; proper sealing will restrict fumes from the engine compartment from being pulled through the cowl vent.

  1. After adjustment, tighten the appropriate bolts.
  2.

Latch See Figure 9
