Outside Mirrors

The mirror glass face may be replaced by placing a piece of tape over the glass then breaking the mirror face. Adhesive back mirror faces are available.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Standard Mirror



  1. Remove the mirror mounting screw.
  2.  
  3. Lift the mirror away from the door.
  4.  
  5. If necessary, remove the two mirror bracket mounting bolts, then remove the bracket and mirror gasket.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Install a new gasket, if the old gasket shows any indication of wear, cracking or other damage.

LEFT SIDE
  1. Remove the door trim panel and detach the remote control lever. Peel back the insulator and water deflector to gain access to the mirror cable.
  2.  
  3. Detach the cable from any retaining tabs in the door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the attaching nuts and remove the mirror and cable assembly from the door.
  6.  
  7. Install the base gasket. Reverse the above to install.
  8.  

RIGHT SIDE
  1. Remove the door trim panel and detach the remote control lever. Peel back the insulator and water deflector to gain access to the mirror cable.
  2.  
  3. On models, with the instrument panel mounted control, remove the setscrew from the control knob.
  4.  
  5. Remove the shroud side finishing panel as follows:
    1. Remove the sill plate screws and sill plate.
    2.  
    3. Remove the litter container, if so equipped.
    4.  
    5. Remove the screw retaining the hinge pillar pinch-weld upper finishing lace.
    6.  
    7. Grasp the shroud finishing panel at the forward edge toward the dash panel and pull inward to disengage the plastic retaining clip, and slide the panel rearward.

  7. Feed the remote cable through the shroud and rubber conduit between the door and pillar and detach the cable from any retaining tabs in the door.
  8.  
  9. Remove the attaching nuts and remove the mirror and cable assembly from the door.
  10.  
  11. Reverse the removal procedure to install. Make sure the remote mirror operates properly before installing the trim.

Power Operated Mirror

RIGHT AND LEFT
  1. Remove the door trim panel and disengage the wire harness at the connector. Peel back the insulator pad and water deflector enough to gain access to the wire harness.
  2.  
  3. Detach the harness from any retaining tabs in the door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the attaching nuts and remove the mirror and harness assembly from the door.
  6.  
  7. Reverse the removal procedure to install. Make sure the mirror operates correctly before installing the door panel.
