REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 1967-69 Models

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower instrument panel cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ashtray bracket screws, radio retaining nuts, and glove compartment.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the heater control cables and wires.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the speedometer cable, then remove the upper left-hand vent duct connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the headlight switch shaft.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screws across the top and bottom of the instrument panel and the nut on the right-hand side (stud through dash).
  14.  
  15. Loosen the toe plate screws, remove the lower column support nuts, and drop the steering column.
  16.  
  17. Pull the panel out far enough to reach behind it, then disconnect the printed circuit board, windshield wipers, and cigarette lighter.
  18.  
  19. Remove the ground straps and cluster retaining screws.
  20.  
  21. Carefully remove the cluster.
  22.  
  23. To install, reverse the removal procedure, making sure the steering column is properly aligned.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the fuse block from the firewall.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper and lower left-side instrument panel trim plates and the lower A/C duct extensions, if so equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the left-side garnish molding and the left lower instrument panel brace, under the steering column, and the toe plate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the left-side pad bolts and fuse block screws.
  8.  
  9. Disengage the body connectors, dimmer, brake, left-side door jamb switches, and the speedometer cable.
  10.  
  11. Lower the steering column and disconnect the ignition, neutral, turn signal, and back-up switches.
  12.  
  13. Remove the glove box and door, right-side garnish molding, and right lower A/C duct at the case, if so equipped.
  14.  
  15. Remove the right-side lower and upper instrument nuts, and detach the right-side door jamb switch connector and temperature cable.
  16.  
  17. Remove the instrument cluster.
  18.  

1971-81 Models

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper instrument panel trim plate.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower instrument panel trim and bracket at the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the two steering column nuts and carefully lower the column.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cluster screws, pull out the cluster and disconnect the speedometer and wiring for the printed circuit.
  10.  
  11. Remove the cluster. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
