REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. If equipped, have the A/C system properly discharged by a reputable repair shop, using an approved recovery/recycling station.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the nuts from the selector duct studs projecting through the dash panel.
  6.  
  7. Unfasten the cover-to-dash and cover-to-case screws, then remove the evaporator case cover.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the evaporator core inlet and outlet lines and cap or plug all open connections at once.
  10.  
  11. Remove the thermostatic switch (if so equipped) and expansion tube assemblies.
  12.  
  13. Remove the evaporator core.
  14.  
  15. When installing remember the following:
    1. Use new O-rings, coated with clean refrigerant oil, when connecting refrigerant lines.
    2.  
    3. Be sure the cover to case and dash panel sealer is intact before installing the cover.
    4.  
    5. Add three ounces of clean refrigerant oil to a new evaporator core.
    6.  
    7. If equipped, take the truck to a reputable repair shop to have the A/C system evacuated, charged and leak tested, using the correct equipment.
