GM Full-Size Trucks 1970-1979 Repair Guide

REAR SUSPENSION

Print

All 2-wheel drive trucks from 1970-72 use a coil spring with lateral control arm rear suspension. An auxiliary leaf spring is also used on 1 / 2 and 3 / 4 ton trucks. In 1973 this was changed to a conventional leaf spring rear suspension. All 4-wheel drive trucks use traditional leaf springs in the rear. All models use one shock absorber at each rear wheel.
