GM Full-Size Trucks 1980-1987 Repair Guide

REAR SUSPENSION

Print

All two wheel drive trucks use a conventional leaf spring rear suspension. Four wheel drive trucks in all years also use the traditional leaf springs in the rear. All models use one shock absorber at each rear wheel.

CAUTION
Springs are under considerable tension. Be careful when removing and installing them; they can exert enough force to cause very serious injuries.
