Fuel Meter Body Assembly

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel meter body.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the fuel feed and return lines from the engine fuel pipes.
  8.  
  9. Remove the upper manifold assembly.
  10.  

When disconnecting the poppet nozzles, tag the nozzles sequence in order of removal to ensure the attached in their original positions during installation.

  1. Squeeze the poppet nozzle locking tabs together while lifting the nozzle out of the casting socket.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel meter body attaching bolts.
  4.  
  5. Release the lock tabs on the fuel meter body bracket and remove the fuel meter body assembly.
  6.

To install:
  1. Place the fuel meter body into position and install its retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 88 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  


WARNING
In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, make sure the poppet nozzles are firmly seated and locked in their casting sockets. An unlocked poppet nozzle could work loose from its socket resulting in a fuel leak.

  1. Attach the fuel meter body bracket lock tabs making sure they firmly lock in place.
  2.  
  3. Push the poppet nozzles into the casting sockets in the order that they were removed. Make sure the nozzles are firmly locked in place.
  4.  
  5. Install the upper manifold electrical connection.
  6.  
  7. Install new O-rings on the fuel feed and return lines.
  8.  
  9. Attach the fuel feed and return lines to the engine fuel pipes. Tighten the fuel pipe nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  
  13. Turn the ignition ON for 2 seconds and then turn it OFF for 10 seconds. Again turn the ignition ON and check for leaks.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the fuel pipes.
  18.  
  19. Install the upper intake manifold.
  20.  
  21. Connect the fuel pipes and the negative battery cable.
