Center Bearing

Center bearings support the driveline when two or more driveshafts are used. The center bearing is a ball type bearing mounted in a rubber cushion that is attached to the frame crossmember. The bearing is pre-lubricated and sealed by the manufacturer.

The center bearing is secured to the frame crossmember by two bolts, washers and nuts. Support the driveshafts properly and remove the bolts from the center bearing. Remove the rear driveshaft from the axle housing and separate the two shafts. Then slide the center bearing off. Reverse the procedure to install.

Make sure that the driveshafts are properly supported before removing the bolts from the center bearing. The shafts may fall if not supported properly, once the center bearing is unbolted.
