REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. If necessary remove the air cleaner assembly and coolant recovery reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator shroud.
  6.  
  7. Remove the drive belt, if necessary.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fan clutch-to-water pump pulley nuts and lift out the fan/clutch assembly.
  10.

  1. Remove the fan clutch bolts and separate the fan from the clutch.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the fan on the fan clutch, then position the fan/clutch assembly on the water pump pulley. Tighten the retainers as follows:

    1987-95 gasoline engines: 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm)
     
    1996-97 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L gasoline engines: 42 ft. lbs. (57 Nm)
     
    7.4L and diesel engines: 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Install the fan shroud.
  4.  
  5. If removed, install the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. If removed, install the coolant recovery reservoir and air cleaner assembly.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery cable.
  10.
