THROTTLE VALVE CABLE



Except 2.3L Engine

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Depress and hold the adjustment tap at the Throttle Valve (TV) cable adjuster.
  4.

  1. Release the throttle lever by hand to its full travel position. On the 2.5L engine, press the accelerator pedal to the full travel position.

  3. The slider must move toward the lever when the lever is rotated to the full travel position or when the accelerator pedal is pressed to the full travel position on the 2.5L engine.

  1. Inspect the cable for freedom of movement. The cable may appear to function properly with the engine stopped and cold, so recheck the cable after the engine is warm. Don't forget to connect the negative battery cable first.

  3. Road test the vehicle and check for proper shifting.

2.3L Engine

See Figures 4 and 5

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Rotate the TV cable adjuster body at the transaxle 90° and pull the cable conduit out until the slider mechanism contacts the stop.

  1. Rotate the adjuster body back to the original position.
  2.  
  3. Using a torque wrench, rotate the TV cable adjuster until 75-120 inch lbs. (9-14 Nm) is reached.

  1. Connect the negative battery cable, then road test the vehicle and check for proper shifting.
  2.  

SHIFT CABLE



  1. Place the selector in the N detent.
  2.  
  3. Raise the locking tab on the cable adjuster.
  4.  
  5. Place the shift control assembly on the transaxle in the neutral position.
  6.  
  7. Push the locking tab back into position.
