REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front
1985-91 VEHICLES

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Unfasten the nuts, bolts and screws attaching the front fascia to the fender.
  4.  
  5. Detach the park/turn signal bulb connectors if necessary.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fascia from the bumper.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the fascia onto the bumper.
  2.  
  3. Attach any electrical connectors that were detached.
  4.  
  5. Install all nuts, bolts and screws previously removed.
  6.  
  7. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  8.  

1992-98 VEHICLES

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right and left wheels to access the inner fender fasteners.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fasteners, and remove the inner fenders.
  6.  
  7. Remove the right and left fascia-to-fender bolts. On 1992-98 Grand Ams, remove the parking lamp assemblies.
  8.  
  9. Unfasten the fascia retainers and remove the fascia from the energy absorber/impact bar.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Fasten the front fascia to the energy absorber/impact bar and install the retainers and bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the parking lamp assemblies, if removed.
  4.  
  5. Install the right and left inner fenders.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheels and torque the lug nuts to the proper specification.
  8.  
  9. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  10.  

Rear Bumpers
1985-91 VEHICLES

  1. Remove the fascia attaching screws and bolts.
  2.  
  3. From inside the trunk, unfasten the bumper attaching nuts and washers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bumper assembly from the vehicle.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install the bumper assembly to the rear of the vehicle. Tighten the nuts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  2.  
  3. From inside the trunk, fasten the bumper attaching nuts and washers.
  4.  
  5. Install the fascia attaching screws and bolts.
  6.  

1992-98 VEHICLES

  1. Open the trunk lid.
  2.  
  3. Unfasten the fascia retaining screws from the inside of the trunk.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fascia retaining screws from inside the rear wheelhouse.
  6.  
  7. On 1992-98 Grand Am GT model only, remove the additional support and screw.
  8.  
  9. From beneath the vehicle, remove the 4 fascia retaining screws from the bracket.
  10.  
  11. Remove the retainers from below the fascia.
  12.  
  13. Detach any electrical connectors, then remove the rear fascia from the impact bar.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Fasten the fascia to the impact bar.
  2.  
  3. Attach any electrical connectors that were disconnected.
  4.  
  5. Install the retainers and attaching screws in opposite order of removal.
  6.  
  7. Close the trunk lid.
  8.
