Timing Belt Covers

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



UPPER RIGHT SIDE COVER

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove retaining bolts, then remove the cover.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Position cover and install retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4.  

UPPER LEFT SIDE COVER
See Figure 1
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove spark plug wire cover or the coil pack and harness, bracket and bracket, as applicable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retaining bolts, then remove the cover.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the cover, then secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
  2.  
  3. Install spark plug wire cover or coil pack bracket, coil pack and harness, as applicable.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  

CENTER COVER

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the Electronic Control Module (ECM) harness cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove serpentine belt tensioner.
  6.  
  7. Remove the right and left side timing belt covers, as outlined earlier in this section.
  8.  
  9. Remove power steering pipe retaining clip nut at alternator stud.
  10.  
  11. Unfasten the center timing belt cover bolts, then remove the cover.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Position the cover on engine and secure with retainer bolts. Tighten bolts to 89 inch lbs.
  2.  
  3. Install power steering pipe retaining clip nut to alternator stud.
  4.  
  5. Fasten the right and left side covers. Install the serpentine belt tensioner.
  6.  
  7. Install Electronic Control Module (ECM) harness cover.
  8.  
  9. Connect negative battery cable.
  10.
