REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Except 1995-96 Chevrolet

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Tape all edges of the door and fender to protect against chipping.
  2.  
  3. Remove the hood as outlined earlier in this section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the windshield washer reservoir, battery cover, vacuum tank or coolant recovery reservoir, as necessary.
  6.  
  7. Remove the header access panel.
  8.  
  9. On the right side, remove the engine compartment closeout panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the front lower fender attaching bolts.
  12.  
  13. Remove the top fender attaching bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front fender liner screws and liner nut from the weld stud.
  16.  
  17. Remove the fender liner from the wheelwell opening. If replacing the liner, remove the "J'' nuts from the liner.
  18.  
  19. Remove the rocker panel.
  20.  
  21. Remove the upper rear and lower rear fender attaching bolts.
  22.  
  23. Remove the fender from the vehicle.
  24.  

To install:
  1. Install the fender to the vehicle, properly align, and install the lower rear and upper rear bolts. Realign and tighten the lower bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) and the upper bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the rocker panel.
  4.  
  5. Install the fender liner to the wheelwell.
  6.  
  7. Install the top fender bolts, but do not tighten them at this point.
  8.  
  9. Install the front lower fender bolts and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the engine closeout panel (on the right side).
  12.  
  13. Install the windshield washer reservoir, battery cover, vacuum tank or coolant recovery reservoir, as necessary.
  14.  
  15. Install the header access panel.
  16.  
  17. Install the hood and align all body parts.
  18.  
  19. Connect the negative battery cable.
  20.  

1995-96 Chevrolet

  1. Remove the hood as outlined earlier in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the hood strut and hinge from the fender.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper fender bolts.
  6.  
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fender liner.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rocker panel finish moulding from the fender.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fascia nuts from the fender.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lower and rear fender bolts and remove the the fender from the vehicle.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Position the fender and install the lower and rear fender bolts and tighten to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the fascia nuts to the fender.
  4.  
  5. Install the rocker panel finish moulding to the fender.
  6.  
  7. Install the fender liner.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle and install the upper fender bolts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the hood strut and hinge to the fender.
  12.  
  13. Install the hood as outlined earlier in this section.
