REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Manual
1988-94 MODELS
  1. Remove the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three mirror-to-door retaining nuts, mirror and filler.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Install the filler, mirror and retaining nuts.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the retaining nuts in sequence to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Tighten sequence is center, top, then bottom.
  4.  
  5. Install the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  6.  

1995-96 MODELS
  1. Remove the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the mirror reinforcement cover.
  4.  
  5. On coupes, remove the three mirror-to-door retaining nuts, and remove the mirror.
  6.  
  7. On sedans, remove the three mirror-to-door retaining bolts/screws, and remove the mirror.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Position the mirror to the door.
  2.  

On sedans, the front edge of the mirror should be tucked under the channel. Slide the mirror forward as far as possible so that the mirror is flush with the belt moulding.

  1. Install the retaining nuts/bolts/screws and staring with the lower left, tighten in a clockwise direction to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the mirror reinforcement cover.
  4.  
  5. Install the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  6.  

Electric and Remote
1988-94 MODELS
  1. Remove the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the water deflector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the remote control cable or electrical connector from the inner panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the three mirror-to-door retaining nuts, mirror and filler.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the filler, mirror and retaining nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install the control cable or electrical connector to the inner panel.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the retaining nuts in sequence to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Tighten sequence; center, top then bottom.
  6.  
  7. Install the water deflector and door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  8.  

1995-96 MODELS
  1. Remove the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the electrical connectors.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mirror reinforcement cover.
  6.  
  7. On coupes, remove the three mirror-to-door retaining nuts, and remove the mirror.
  8.  
  9. On sedans, remove the three mirror-to-door retaining bolts/screws, and remove the mirror.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Route the cable through the hole in the door panel at the mirror reinforcement.
  2.  
  3. Position the mirror to the door.
  4.  

On sedans, the front edge of the mirror should be tucked under the channel. Slide the mirror forward as far as possible so that the mirror is flush with the belt moulding.

  1. Install the retaining nuts/bolts/screws and staring with the lower left, tighten in a clockwise direction to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

  3. Install the mirror reinforcement cover.
  4.  
  5. Engage the electrical connectors.
  6.  
  7. Install the door trim panel as outlined in this section.
  8.  

MIRROR GLASS REPLACEMENT




CAUTION
Wear gloves and safety glasses to prevent personal injury when removing broken mirror glass.

  1. Place masking or duct tape over the entire mirror glass.
  2.  
  3. Cover the painted surfaces of the vehicle to prevent damage to the paint surfaces.
  4.  
  5. Break the mirror face with a small hammer.
  6.  
  7. Remove all pieces of mirror glass from the frame.
  8.  
  9. Clean all adhesive from the mirror frame with solvent.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Remove the paper backing from the back side of the new mirror to expose the adhesive.
  2.  
  3. Center the mirror in the frame and press firmly to ensure the adhesion of the mirror glass-to-frame.
  4.
